Alan Freestone was originally the sole proprietor of Uig Pottery. It is now run as a partnership between Alan and Margaret Freestone.
The workshop is in a wonderful position on the sea wall by Uig Bay and we are constantly encouraged and inspired by the tremendous views we have of sea, hills, sky and wild life.
Alan Freestone
Alan is a skilled potter and designer. He creates the style of the pots as well as the glazes and decorations, then goes on to train his assistants carefully.
Margaret Freestone
Margaret started as an administrator and shop manager. Over the last seven years, she has been trained in many aspects of the manufacturing process and now spends most of her time glazing and decorating.
Rachael
Rachael is our full time assistant.
Bridget
Bridget is our part-time assistant.
Freddy
Last but not least, is Freddy! He tells us whenever someone comes into the shop and helps to clean the floor after tea break. He is very friendly and loves to have attention. His bark is definitely just a show of bravado!
